Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For The Man In Your Life

It's that time of year again when Cupid pops his cherubic head up and we all get ourselves into a fluster trying to decide what to buy that special person in our lives. It's all too easy to get stuck in a rut, leave present buying to the last minute, or waste your money on things that just never get used.
In the first of two posts, I've put together the definitive gift guide for that special man in your life, whatever your budget. For those of you in a hurry, I've listed the products at the end of the post, or you can ponder the whole post over a cup of tea if you'd rather!

Although they might not be interested in searching for skincare themselves, I don't know a man who doesn't appreciate good quality products and, as regular readers know, I'm a huge devotee of Clarins.  I introduced MrTMBB (a tough critic) to their ClarinsMen range at Christmas and he's already won over. There have so many great products, ranging from their shampoo and shower wash for those who don't want multiple products, to their super moisture balm (a GQ Grooming Awards winner) and after shave energiser for those who like a grooming routine.

Another favourite of mine is Liz Earle, but I didn't realise how good their men's range was until recently and particularly love the scent of their face and body wash.

The first product MrTMBB reviewed for the blog, was a No7 moisturiser and he loved it so much that I couldn't leave them out. Their new energising face, beard and stubble moisturiser is already a hit and it currently on special offer in Boots.

If your other half, like mine, is reluctant to change his signature scent gift set minis are a good way of tempting him to give some more a test-run, like this one from Giorgio Armani. Again, they're on offer in Boots and with four in the box (the hubs has already pinched Acqua Di Gio), you never know, they might consider a full-size bottle next time!

Finally, in the pampering department, perhaps you want to treat him to a massage. I've bought the hubs a full-body massage from, Essential, our local salon. He's been a fan of the more manly sports' massage for ages, but I got him to try one in the spa at our hotel in Barcelona before Christmas and he loved it!
With all these new skincare products, he can't be stuffing them into a worn out old wash bag and this Vida Vida leather one from Not On The High Street is really classy and great quality. Plus, if you order sharpish, you can have it personalised with his initials.

If personalised gifts are your preferred style, then you can't go wrong with a photobook. I'm cheating here as, after doing one of our first year together, the hubs decided he could do a better job (annoyingly, he does!). So each year he makes one on our Mac and Apple kindly deliver a really high quality keepsake in return. Or Little White Dog's message in a bottle are super cute and really quick to put together  (again, from Not On The High Street). If time is not on your side, or your budget is smaller, then you must take a look at Chroma Stationary a UK based company that create gorgeous personalised notebooks. As MrTMBB is a major sports fan and is a lover of inspirational quotes, I got him several to use at work with some of his favourite quotes.

Finally, if sport is the focus, then it might be that you win him over with a new pair of trainers (yes, really!) like this Asics pair. The hub's trainer collection is vast and he's always adding to them. Perhaps, not the most romantic present, but they'll love you for it! Or if, they love reading about sport as much as they do playing it, then a trip to Waterstones is a great bet to pick up great reads like Legacy, The Art of Captaincy and Friday Night Lights.
